Daddy's Wallet Buster!

Dandelions are the bane of any cared for and babied lawn. And we have our share of them. John took a good hour or more dutifully pulling them up with is handy dandelion digger. But what to do about them now lying on the ground. Dandelions can still turn to seed even after they are pulled up, so leaving them there can actually cause more trouble! So that's when Daddy got smart and enlisted the girls' help. He offered to pay them 5 cents for every Dandelion they picked up! Moriah and Grace were very excited and eager to help. They spent the next 20 mins or more putting them in Walmart sacks. When they came in for more bags, I started wondering if Daddy was going to go broke by the time it was all said and done!! LOL!
Sure enough, he estimated that they gathered around 40lb of Dandelions! Of course a lot of that weight was due to the dirt clods attached the bottoms. He decided it was too much work to count out how many they had collected so he just asked them how much they thought they should get! BIG MISTAKE! haha! Moriah said 50 bucks and Gracie went for 60!!! =) Fortunately they both settled for 5 dollars apiece! Whew! Here are some pics of their 3 and half bags of Dandelions. Since this time our lawn has produced plenty more...but I haven't heard John offer them the job again!!! His wallet must still be suffering! haha! =)

I remember getting payed to do something like that as a kid and thinking the whole time just how much money I was going to get, lol!

Hey, at their age, 5 bucks is almost as good as $50!!!

Wow, Gracie! $120/hour for unskilled labor?! The next step for them is to form a child labor union and start demanding severance by age 10. LOL!

No, make that $180/hour. That's very enterprising - got yourself a lawyer there.

Hey Paul-Michael, don't be giving them any crazy ideas!! We'll just keep them clueless and hope they don't start applying any learned math concepts in their business transaction for awhile! LOL!

Hummm to be young and clueless again...sounds rather appealing! =)

Young and Clueless? Sounds like a soap opera to me.=)

I think the dandelion pick-up was a great money-making job for two little girls! With the way those bags looked, I think John might have gotten off easy!!
